In addition to his Doctor of Optometry from the University of Waterloo, Dr. Bishop’s also earned his pharmacological therapeutics certification from Northeastern State University of Oklahoma. He graduated in 1983 and has been practicing optometry in Alberta ever since.
In the intervening years, Dr. Bishop has seen all sorts of patients; from a few months of age to just under 100 years old. Thanks to Doctor Bishop’s dedication to innovation and medical advancement, you’re likely to see new technology and instruments every time you visit us. Dr. Bishop enjoys fitting contact lenses and especially those hard to fit ones.
Dr. Bishop has donated his services to Gift of Sight Missions a number of times, visiting such countries as Bolivia, Laos, Tunisia, Peru, Dominican Republic, and Argentina. At home, Dr. Bishop participates in year-round programs that make eyewear available to less fortunate people.
Dr. Bishop has 2 children. His daughter is a practicing registered nurse at the Rocky View Hospital, and his son is now a licensed optometrist with us. Dr. Bishop grew up on a farm until the age of twelve when the family of six packed up and moved to the big city of Calgary. He now spends his non-office hours on his ranch with his cows which he lovingly calls his “Moo-Moos”.
