As Dr. Donald Bishop’s son, Dr. Eric Bishop has been involved with Dr. Bishop & Associates since he was quite young. He completed his Bachelor of Science in Biology at St. Francis Xavier University in Antigonish, Nova Scotia.
Dr. Bishop obtained his Doctorate of Optometry at Midwestern University’s Arizona College of Optometry. While in Arizona, he organized and attended free community vision screenings throughout the Phoenix area.
Aside from being the events coordinator for his school’s on-campus Lion’s Club, Dr. Bishop successfully submitted and presented 2 studies at the American Academy of Optometry’s yearly meetings. One of these studies was then published in the peer-reviewed journal Optometry and Visual Performance.
Dr. Bishop also accompanied the California Lions Giving Sight on 2 trips to Mexico to provide free vision evaluation, ocular health care, and glasses to the local underserved residents.
In his final year of education, Dr. Bishop completed his clinical externships. His focus was on diagnostic imaging and ocular diseases such as glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, and macular degeneration.
During that same year, Dr. Bishop attended the Veterans Affairs hospitals in downtown Detroit and Providence, Rhode Island, Norton Sound Regional Hospital, and surrounding villages in Nome, Arkansas, and a private practice in Glendale, Arizona.
Dr. Bishop also fits a variety of unique and different contact lenses for various eye conditions, including keratoconus, grafted or irregular corneal fits, and astigmatic presbyopia.
In his spare time, Dr. Eric Bishop enjoys playing the guitar, playing in a band made up of high school buddies, photography, and travel.
