In addition to his Doctor of Optometry from the University of Waterloo, Dr. Bishop also earned his pharmacological therapeutics certification from Northeastern State University of Oklahoma. He graduated in 1983 and has been practicing optometry in Alberta ever since.
In the following years, Dr. Bishop has seen all sorts of patients, from a few months of age to just under 100 years old. Thanks to Dr. Bishop’s dedication to innovation and medical advancement, you’ll likely see new technology every time you visit us. Dr. Bishop enjoys fitting contact lenses, especially those hard-to-fit ones.
Dr. Bishop has donated his services on Gift of Sight missions many times, visiting Bolivia, Laos, Tunisia, Peru, the Dominican Republic, and Argentina. At home, Dr. Bishop participates in year-round programs to make eyewear available to people in need.
Dr. Bishop has 2 children. His daughter is a practising registered nurse at the Rocky View Hospital, and his son is now a licensed optometrist with us. Dr. Bishop grew up on a farm until age 12 when the family of 6 packed up and moved to the big city of Calgary. He now spends his non-office hours on his ranch with his cows, who he lovingly calls his “Moo-Moos.”
