Find Your Contact Fit

Contact lenses are handy for people who want better vision without the obstacle of eyeglasses. Yet, a poorly fitting contact can get in the way as much as a wobbly pair of glasses.

If your contacts irritate your eyes or slip out often, it can impact more than your vision. It can also impact your eye health. Better fitting contacts are healthier for your eyes.

From size to curvature, your eyes are unique. We measure your eye shape to learn how to match you with contacts that fit like a glove.

If your eye health and vision need more attention, we can talk about specialty contacts. From protecting your eye health to correcting your vision, a better fit means better results.

Browse our shop for contact lenses or schedule a visit with Dr. Bishop & Associates for your contact lens exam and fitting.

How Does A Poor Fit Affect Your Eyes?

Constantly readjusting your contact lenses may cause eye problems like:

  • Discomfort
  • Redness
  • Dry eyes
  • Excess watering
  • Irritated or stinging eyes
  • Reduced visual clarity
  • Discharge (eye secretions)

Feeling something in the eye (foreign object or scratch)

Corneal Topography

Corneal topography is a tool that scans, measures, and creates a precise geographic map of your cornea. In other words, corneal topography tells us the exact size and curvature of your cornea.

We need these measurements to help us find your perfect contact lens fit. It can also be a helpful tool for diagnosing corneal issues.

Contact Lens Types

In order to match your unique eyes, there are many contact lens options available. Some contacts favour crisp vision over comfort, while others focus on wearability.

Here are some of the contact lens types we carry:

Rigid Gas Permeable Lenses

Rigid gas permeable (RGB) contacts or hard contact lenses offer the sharpest vision. Unfortunately, some wearers find rigid lenses less comfortable, however they are durable for more extended wear.

Soft contact lenses are generally the most comfortable to wear because of their flexible material. Additionally, the lenses are disposable, with options for daily, weekly, or monthly disposal.

Hybrid contact lenses offer the best of rigid gas permeable (hard) and soft contacts. The rigid centre provides sharper vision, but the softer outer segment is easier on the eyes.

Scleral contact lenses are a type of gas permeable lens with a larger surface area. The design and shape can improve contact positioning on the eye and retain moisture, which can help prevent dry eyes.

Multifocal contact lenses contain more than one prescription. For example, a bifocal lens is a multifocal lens with two prescriptions. The prescriptions are divided by segments within the lens. Instead of switching between reading glasses and your contacts for myopia, you can wear an all-in-one contact lens.
